Ros Byrne markets a fine range of Teak Furniture which has been designed to compliment the printed textiles and hand painted ceramics. The combination of the teak and cane furniture, with the Kudhinda soft furnishings and fabrics, creates a truly rich and unique African interior, which has application in private homes and in public spaces, such as hotels and lodges.

Ros Byrne supplies traditionally hand crafted bamboo and basket weave furniture from Malawi. These chairs, tables and storage baskets are intricately woven, ceating a beautiful texture to home furnishings.

These products are made by craftsmen in their village homes around Blantyre and the Southern shores of Lake Malawi, so every piece is individual. The natural materials used are local, fast growing vines and reeds, and are easily replenished. The villagers manage this eco system themselves, and CAWCC encourages protection of the enviroment. The Malawi Wicker Chair Company offers a small select choice of chairs, two seaters, occasional tables, childrens chairs and storage baskets.

The furniture is made by master cabinet makers in Zimbabwe, utilising local teak, and the wood is highly polished to a beautiful finish. Most pieces are also available in knock down form, which can then be assembled on site.

Fixtures and fittings illustrate shop fittings which are most suitable for displaying all Kudhinda products including the ceramics and fabrics. The wood used is either teak or saligna (eucalyptus) both locally available in Zimbabwe. A combination of these fittings and the teak furniture can create a beautiful framework for display. The fittings and accessories such as wall hanging rods and palte stands make it easier for retail buyers to display their purchases in their homes.

All product ranges are the design concept of Ros Byrne and Nick Culverhouse in association with the crafts people employed by the above companies. The mix of all the products will create an exciting enviroment whether in a reatil shop or for use in the home, hotel or office interior. They are particularly suited to an African context.
